BG (Ret.) Eric Sanchez Honorary Scholarship

BG (Ret) Sanchez is one of our esteemed alumni, the honorary Colonel of our Bataan Battalion Alumni Organization, and the best advocate here on campus for the ROTC program.  His remarkable history of service to our nation and to his alma matter is worthy of emulation by the young leaders who will earn this scholarship. This scholarship was created this year with the help of Chancellor Arvizu and Dr. Renay Scott, the Vice President Division of Student Success.  Their generous incentives structure will allow us to be more successful recruiting top talent from across the nation by offering any 3 and 4-year national scholarship winners full tuition scholarships for each year they are on ROTC scholarship. 

 

Brigadier General (Ret.) Jack Fox Honorary Scholarship

BG (Ret) Fox is one of our esteemed alumni, a member of the board of advisors of our Bataan Battalion Alumni Organization (BBAO), and the former Adjutant General (TAG) for the NM Army National Guard.  His remarkable history of service to our nation and to his alma matter is worthy of emulation by the young leaders who will earn this scholarship.  NMSU has created this scholarship to provide free tuition for any of our cadets who have competed for and earned a campus-based ROTC scholarship. 

 

Land Grant Scholarship

NMSU gives the Bataan Battalion 5 one-year tuition scholarships to award to top performing cadets.  This scholarship includes a $500 per semester stipend.

National Guard/Reserve Scholarship Opportunities

Already enlisted in the National Guard or the Army Reserve? Through the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) you can do Army ROTC at the same time and commission as a 2nd lieutenant. Find out more by going to our section on National Guard/Reserve Students. These scholarships can be used in conjuntion with some of your other National Guard/Reserve benefits. 

 

3 Year Campus Based ROTC Scholarships

5th Brigade, United States Army Cadet Command funds up to six 3-year campus based ROTC scholarships per year for our program.  Army ROTC scholarship winners get Room and Board, a $420 per month stipend, and $1,200 annual book allowance.  Winners are selected by a Scholarship board consisting of cadre, DA civilians, and University employees that consider a cadet’s placement in the campus order of merit list (OML). This OML is based on the Scholar, Athlete, Leader model.  These can be awarded in 3, 2.5, and 2 year increments.  Occasionally, 3 year scholarship winners can be upgraded to 3.5 years of benefits.
