Endowment Fund Scholarships

In addition to the Army scholarships, the ROTC program as NMSU has the following merit based scholarship opportunities for participating Cadets.

Evans Ramirez Garcia ROTC Memorial Endowed Scholarship: This scholarship was established in 2012 in order to honor Evans Ramirez Garcia for his heroism and sacrifices as a Bataan Veteran and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU.

  • Must be a member of the NMSU Army ROTC program
  • May be an Undergraduate or Graduate student
  • Preference to students who plan to make the military a career for themselves

The CSM (Ret.) Michael W. Jefferson Army ROTC Endowed Scholarship: This renewable scholarship was established in 2009 and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU.

  • Must be contracted in the Army ROTC program at NMSU
  • Must be enrolled full-time student at NMSU
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Must meet competitive physical standards as directed by program
  • Preference goes to prior service Cadets and those higher on the OML

Hellmuth Military Science and Aerospace Studies Endowment: This endowment scholarship is used to make annual awards for educational expenses to one or more contracted Cadets in the Army ROTC program at NMSU.

  • Must have successfully completed Advance Camp
  • Awarded during the fall semester following summer training

Captain Edward Griffith Memorial Scholarship:  This scholarship was established in 1973 and goes to an Army ROTC Cadet who has interest in a military career.

  • Must be a Cadet in the Army ROTC program at NMSU
  • Must be either a sophomore or junior
  • Must be in good standings with the University and Army ROTC program

Manatt Army ROTC Leadership Endowed Scholarship: This scholarship was established by James C. and Marilyn Manatt in 2008 to make an award to Cadets who demonstrate superior leadership and potential.

  • Must be enrolled in the Army ROTC program at NMSU
  • Preference given to cadets from Chaves, Lea, Eddy, Lincoln, or Otero Counties in New Mexico
  • Preference given to cadets who are members of the Army National Guard

Emmett L. Nations Memorial Scholarship:  This scholarship was established in the Memory of COL Nations who was a Professor of Military Science and Tactics in Europe during WWII and Korean War and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU.

  • Must be a freshman or sophomore in the Army ROTC program
  • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5
  • Must be a resident of New Mexico
  • Must be interested in making the military a career for themselves

Lieutenant Colonel William J. Reinhart, II Current Use Award: This scholarship was created in 2009 by Mary Beth Reinhart in memory of LTC Reinhart II and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU.

  • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5
  • Must have successfully completed "Introduction to Military Science and/or currently enrolled in "Introduction to Leadership"
  • Must have successfully completed one Military Science 300 level course and be enrolled in an additional Military Science 300 level course

Colonel Kary And Betty Wall Fund:  This scholarship fund was established by Colonel Kary D. and Betty W. Wall in 2006 in order to support educationally related expenses and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU

  • Must be a second year Army ROTC student who expresses interest to enroll in the advanced program
  • Must express clear intent to branch in the MFE career field 
  • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5
  • Must be an all-around student that demonstrates outstanding leadership capabilities

Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Scholarship Fund: This scholarship was established in 1990 and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU.

  • Preference to sophomores participating in the Army ROTC program
  • Preference to New Mexico residents
  • Must have and maintain a GPA of 3.0

ROTC Alumni and Friends Scholarship: This scholarship was established in 1981 and is awarded annually to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU who are active in program and who exhibit leadership potential.

  • Must be classified as a Freshman
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Francis B. And Christine A. Conway Endowed Army ROTC Scholarship: This endowment scholarship was established in 2013 by Christine A. Conway in order to make an award to one or more undergraduate Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU

  • Must be a Contracted Junior or Senior in the NMSU Army ROTC program
  • Must have and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 in both their academic studies and in their Military Science Courses

Tom and Doreen Elfmont Current Use Scholarship: This scholarship was established in 2016 to support one or more undergraduate Army Cadets. The award is equal to the amount of room and board. 

  • Must be enrolled in the NMSU Army ROTC program
  • Preference is given to either male or female cadets who are in good standing and desire to go Active Duty in a Combat Arms Branch

Army ROTC Alumni Chapter Challenge Endowed Scholarship Fund:  This Scholarship is used to support Cadets in the Army ROTC program who are working toward a commission in the U.S. Army. 

  • Must be enrolled full-time at NMSU and in good standing
  • Preference is given to Cadets who are eligible to receive a commission

Military Science Endowed Scholarship: This Scholarship was established in 2003 to make at least one annual award to Cadets in Army ROTC at NMSU.

  • Must be a contracted Cadet
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

 Fouratt and Heydt American Leaders Endowed Scholarship:  This Scholarship was established in 2016 by Gregory Fouratt and Larry Heydt to support Cadets in the Army ROTC program at NMSU. 

  • Must be a full-time Junior or Senior and Cadet in the program
  • Must have an maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Preference given to students studying Government

SFC Antonio Rey "ROD" Rodriguez Endowed Scholarship: This scholarship was established in 2020 to support students in the College of Arts and Sciences and celebrates the life of SFC Antonio Rey “ROD” Rodriguez.  For SFC Antonio Rey “ROD” Rodriguez’s full biography click here.

  • Awarded to one undergraduate Cadet
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25
  • Must be classified as a junior or senior level student
